MY LOVE WAS BORN ON A RAY OF SOUND

My love for a good cover remains strong with this one, St. Vincent's ridiculously good version of The Pop Group's She is Beyond Good and Evil - if you care for the excellent abuse of a good guitar, this one is quite clearly for you. If you just plain like St. Vincent like me, you should take some time to listen to her newast album Strange Mercy or at very least hit play below. You will not be sorry.

Theophilus London featuring Sara Quin - Why Even Try (RAC Remix)

Bob Dylan - Don't Think Twice It's Alright

Good things come from sleeplessness, it's true. I found this out last night at 4 am while watching the live stream from SXSW and found The Eastern Sea. I'VE LOVED AND I'VE LOST

I WOULDN'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY

Photobucket

Grizzly Bear - Shift (Alternate Version)
I'm not sure whether this is a post for Blue Valentine or Grizzly Bear, or more than likely both. I went to see Blue Valentine on Monday, which was ridiculously good and heartbreaking in it's own right but add to that a soundtrack by Grizzly Bear and it's difficult not to find yourself rendered to your seat and floundering. This song has been on repeat with me since. I wouldn't have it an other way.

David Bowie - Heroes
And so on to the second of the favourite song posts, containing my most favourite of favourite lyrics - cause we're lovers, and that is a fact, yes we're lovers, and that is that. Happy Sunday.

WELL IF YOU WANT TO KNOW ME, I'M A WAR

Photobucket
So 2010 has left us and 2011 is brand spanking and new and maybe a little too bright to be looking directly at quite yet so instead, a casual look back. Not so much a best of list as is customary at these times, but instead a highlight, a best of list of one.

There were several times last year that I wanted to ramble at length about my growing love for Warpaint, and that is on top of the two posts I couldn't hold myself back from, so consider this me making it up to you with a video a'plenty blogpost.

If you haven't heard The Fool yet, their debut album released through Roughtrade Records in October of last year, I highly recommend that you do and if you haven't seen them live and the opportunity presents itself, you'd be unhinged not too. Stella Mozgawa on drums and Jenny Lee Lindberg on bass are worth the ticket price alone, but the four of them together are ridiculous and on stage it's hard to take your eyes off any one of them. So if you're as yet short on plans for 2011, have a look and book accordingly.
